"He intends no harm, but harm will come to Silvius there. He doesn't belong there. It's not his seat in the realm - this is. Ascanius will be busy with his new bride, and she with him. No one there will look after Silvius' interest. Some of them are intriguers and no friends of his. I will not leave my young ram-lamb unguarded among strangers!"
Lavinia does want to believe that her son, Silvius will be safe without her and staying with Ascanius. However, she is still not feeling comfortable with Ascanius, because she knows that Ascanius is feeling some kind of competitive mind towards Silvius. Lavinia also knows that Ascanius is the person who certainly is not like Aeneas. Ascanius wants wars to prove his manhood and she is worried that if Silvius is with him, then Silvius will someday get hurt and he is still young to be get injured. Therefore, Lavinia wants to keep Silvius until he fully become an adult.

This shows that Silvius was loved by everyone and that he had affectionate...etc characteristics.

This also tells that he is a strong boy who would be a good warrior when he grows up.

On page 227 it says, "He ordered Achates to go up to Alba Longa and govern there. Achates accepted the order without a word, but I was afraid for him." Lavinia sees how distraught Achates is over the death of Aeneas when he feels he could have prevented it. However, Ascanius is "jealous of my [Lavinia's] being with the Trojan captains," so he spreads themn out and sends them away. Other than his own feelings, there is no reason to send Achates away. He's still mourning Aeneas's death, but Ascanius doesn't care! He's making rash decisions based on his own emotions... That's not what kings are supposed to do.
Also, on page 228 Ascanius says, "The chief city of Latium is goingto be Alba Longa, not Lavinium." Then, he comes up with all these wonderful excuses to move it, like "[It's] central to where our power will be when I finally get control over Rutulia." Not only is he implying more war to get hold of Rutulia, who are not going to be happy about it, no doubt, and cause disruption in the kingdom, but he's moving the capital city to somewhere other than where his father liked it. Aeneas loved Lavinia and he loved Lavinium. One asks themself how he can do such a thing as take away one of the only things Lavinia, his "mother," has left to remind ehr of her husband's love.
Ascanius doesn't care about anyone's feelings than his own, and he cares a little too much about his own. If he feels like jumping off bridges is a good idea, he's going to order the entire kingdom to jump with him.

Even though Silvius can go off guard, and be impatient at times, he does possess good behavior. In this section of the reading it explains some specific examples of when and where he has this behavior. He is a boy that when around men he is most utterly perfect in terms of behavior. I think this might be because he looks up to older men (of the same gender) and wants to set a good example of himself with them. Whereas when with his mother, it can be the other way around. Although everyone looks upon him as a well behaved boy. He is normally quiet and when it comes to fights such as verbal attacks and so on, he ignores them and attempts to maintain his maturity by not getting involved. This quote describes how he also behaves in the courtyard, being very merry and heart warming to others, including innocent babies. Now if he was an ill behaved boy, he would have no care for others, especially babies.

This word is also brought up at the beginning of the quote. This is another good example of how he is well behaved because he is never loud and obnoxious towards others and does not distract or annoy.

I found Kai's quote but since she already did it i was looking for a different way in which Silvius is positive.

He ignored verbal attacks, but he met physical bullying or threat with instant resistance and retaliation...."
This shows that Silvius is a positive person because he tried to avoid conflict. Verbal attacks do not hurt him physically therefor there was not need for a problem. Although when someone hurt him, he did not want to fight, he only wanted to end it and protect himself.

I believe there are some reasons beside the one that she can’t leave Sylvius because he is her beloved son. One of them is that she is afraid to see Sylvius become a person like Ascanius because he will not have a person to tell him what is not virtuous to do or not. This shows when she tells Ascanius that he is a greedy person. Also, before Latinus died, he told Lavinia to protect Sylvius from Ascanius because since he is young, if he learned few lessons, he would become like him. In addition, she feels that she would become crazy just like her mother used to be and she knows that she will become that way and will be unable to resist herself when her purpose of life, Sylvius, is not with her.

This passage makes it blatantly obvious as to why Ascanius wants Silvis to stay with him - he wants to train him to be a soldier or general. I think that he doesn't treat Silvius as a father here, but more like a son, contradicting what he says about himself before.
I believe that this is a further emulation of Aeneas. This may be the way in which Aeneas raised Ascanius, and, possibly believing that it is the best method, wants to achieve that with Silvius.

I have to agree with Brianna on this one: Sylvius sometimes takes things a little too far, and often acts a little immaturely, he is, at heart, a good child and a good son who appears to please and love his mother very much. However, like most children, he allows himself to get a little out of hand sometimes: however, this lack of moderation in his behavior has never really hurt anyone.

Ascanius behaves quite badly in this reading. But in particular he behaves quite bad on p230. He was unable to avoid combat and was always picking unnecessary fights. He would following victory with vengeance and he rarely made any peace, but was the one who started the fight. He was not being a very good king, and he was showing a horrible example for his people. He even provoked an old friend of the king's, which is something that is strongly discouraged.

Lavinia does not want to leave Sylvius behind becasue he is her beloved son and also he was someone who had good strength. Also because Silvius is still a young boy, he might not be able to protect him self, so she wanted to protect him until he can protect himself.

He is creating war himself and sending all the young men in his country to the battlefield. This made all the old who people who can't go out to fight left behind and take care of the farms. When the people got unhappy and displeased, Ascanius made Lavinia to take all the responsibility for it. He is not ruling the country in a rightful way and treating his stepmother badly. Which is a wrong doing a king must not do.
